Bridal Fashion Week Australia 2016 kicked off on Friday with a media day followed by a shopping event on Saturday. With some beautiful vendors, a flower crown making workshop and epic runway show, it was a jam-packed two days. It was great meeting and connecting with designers as well.
The runway show was, as always, full of anticipation and excitement, with some beautiful, glittering gowns on show. There were plenty to inspire the modest bride, although to be honest, the bridal world really needs to move away from the ‘naked lace gown’. This trend basically dominated the runway and I was itching to see something different. Luom.o’s long sleeved, vintage style gown had me at hello, as did Catherine R Couture’s romantically elegant designs. When Freddie Met Lilly also had some breathtaking long sleeve gowns, with the full lace dress being my favourite. I LOVED Akira’s take on bridal, particularly the loose, boyfriend blazer draped with embellished tulle. Heavenly. Helen Rodrigues’s selection of designer gowns, including Inbal Dror and Monique Lhuiller, was also inspiring. The stunning detail and unique take on bridal by Carmela Ambrogio was an exciting new discovery.
