Best of…Real weddings 2015

WE had some beautiful weddings featured here this year. These weddings I feel exemplified the simple, honest and true ethos of The Modest Bride with their DIY elements, consideration of budget and pure love oozing from every photo.

In no particular order, here are our favourites…

  1. Shahrukh and Serahphina– a bride who went for a pale blue gown rather than traditional white for her wedding… and a stunning wedding reception with a table overflowing with flowers.

2. Ibrahim and Fatima– a dress inspired by Dior and made by the bride’s mother, Fatima was a simply a picture of beauty…

3. Ed and Emily– Another custom made gown, this time by the bride herself! Emily and Ed’s wedding was the stuff of relaxed bohemian dreams…

4. Jimmy and Esther– and the custom made gowns roll on, with Esther in her timeless ballgown dress and that stunning reception view over the water. I loved the colour palette of soft peaches, ivory and navy.

5. Ahmed and Aala– a garden wedding full of heart, perfectly captured in their video by The Story of Us.

6. Matt and Zoe– a bride in a lace Valentino gown with the most luscious cascading bouquet. Need I say more?

7. Mehal and Khaled– they captured our hearts with their wise words on marriage…

“Marriage for us is about the union of two souls who always strive for the best together. It’s about building an eternal bond – which takes a lot of work and some sacrifice. It’s about honesty even when it’s difficult. It’s about forgiveness and kindness. It’s about the acceptance of imperfection and the fierce protection that comes with knowing your partner’s flaws. Marriage means talking everything through…repeatedly. It’s laughter and love and adventure. And it’s about going through all of these things to attain the pleasure of Allah All Mighty. It’s that strange mix of extremely messy poetry.”

8. Aise and Enes– A perfectly planned, shabby chic vintage wedding in beautiful blush and ivory tones…

9. Andien and Irfan– This breathtaking wedding took place in a forest, with minimal styling that allowed the venue do all the talking. And that lace gown? with that cap veil? Oh so inspiring…

10. Huss and Widyan– The gorgeous Widyan in a custom made gown inspired by the designs of Berta Bridal was resplendent on her wedding day to her best friend Huss.
