Inject colour

I wrote an article for Hijab Louvre recently about how I don’t like the ‘all white’ bridal look, particularly for a hijabi. I love non-traditional wedding dresses with bounds of colour, or even a restrained use of ivory, gold and silver, just to break it all up.

I’ve found a few more gowns that I think accomplish this nicely, all with an affordable (somewhat) price tag for the bride. Or they are simply inspirational.

1. Notte by Marchesa  : that gold lace detailing with long sleeves is stunning.

2. Alice + Olivia : so it might be strapless but the print and style are just so beautiful and I think, rather perfect for a bride. Throw a white or powder blue blazer over it for a modern look, or an embellished cape for utter romance.

3. Temperley ‘Magnolia’ Dress

4. Jenny Packham Resort 2015: All my favourite colours are combined in this beautiful look.  I love the sweeping ball gown skirt with the casual cardigan amped up by the embellished detail. Perfection.

5. BHLDN ‘Emma’ Gown: I love ombre, and this beautiful dress does it perfectly. Also, at under the $1500 mark, it is totally do-able. To modest-ify it I would recommend a blush or ivory coloured cardigan on top. Cardigans and knits are a new bridal trend- mark my words- Olivia Palermo’s wedding style, which seamlessly infused casual indifference with pure elegance in her cashmere sweater with romantic tulle embroidered skirt, will catch on.
