I don’t even know where to start with this wedding… All I can say is that it is an absolute honour to share it here with you all. A big thank you to Shirley from Everly Events for submitting this wedding, and of course to Esther and Jimmy for sharing it with me. So let’s get into the details shall we…
Sometimes there is a wedding that simply takes your breath away and you find yourself uttering ‘wow’ at every. single. picture. Everything from the breathtaking venue of windswept palm trees and the mighty ocean, to the balmy sunset blessing every one and everything with beauty, THAT dress!!! The classic but muted ball-gown silhouette in a beautiful raw silk with a slight sheen topped off with a stunning beaded belt with not a hint of lace in sight! Oh it’s the stuff of dreams…

How they met I am so fortunate to have witnessed Esther and Jimmy from the first moments they met one another, and now they are married! Having been roommates with Esther since our early days in college and knowing Jimmy through a mutual friend, I saw the two become friends, date, fall in love, and finally tie the knot. They are one of the sweetest, honest, and genuine couple I have the pleasure of knowing and I was more than thrilled to have been able to help them plan their wedding.
The Proposal When asked about her engagement and story, Esther recalls, “Jimmy knows I don’t like surprises and I prefer special moments to be more private, so he knew I would want a proposal to be just between the two of us. But he was thoughtful enough to make a sweet video with our friends and family and he surprised me with it when he proposed so it felt like that moment was still shared. He proposed at the Grove because that’s where we had our first date back in 2007, but he chose a very beautiful secluded area near the back so it was perfect.”
Style of Wedding Esther wanted to keep everything in her wedding clean and simple, so she went with an elegant palette of whites, ivories, and greens as her base color and then brought in pops of peaches, blush and navy tones to tie everything together. She and Jimmy both also have several close friends who are all talented designers who helped design the place cards, seating charts, menu, program, and their wedding invitations. It definitely felt extra special to have all of Esther and Jimmy’s close friends be part of those details.
Bride’s Dress The most memorable part of the entire wedding though has to be her amazing and gorgeous wedding dress! The dress was custom made by Dawn of Atelier and her amazing team, taking Esther’s dreams and inspirations and making them into a reality. Esther states, “I always knew I wanted a simple long sleeve dress but a lot of the long sleeve dresses I found were made of lace, which is unfortunately not flattering on me. I also wanted a higher neckline, lots of pleats in the skirt, and I did not want it to be stark white. So instead of hunting for a dress I went to Dawn at Atelier Bridal in Los Angeles and she custom designed the dress beautifully!”
Memorable Moment When I asked Esther what the favorite part of her day was, she told me, “There were so many! One of the best moments though was walking down the aisle with Jimmy at the very end of the ceremony. The nervousness was gone and we just saw all of our favorite people celebrating with us – it was a very sweet moment. But getting ready with all my bridesmaids was really fun and I actually really enjoyed the table to table visits because it was so good to see everyone, especially those I had not seen in a long time. And of course, seeing everyone dancing and having a GREAT night made everything worth it!”
Venue Having known and grown with both of them for quite some time now, I knew they would both want an intimate, heartfelt and fun wedding, with family flying from Seattle and from the East Coast, so we looked to the beautiful California coast line and beaches for a unique and breathtaking venue.
